Keep Up Your Fitness Plans While Traveling in SF
There’s nothing like a change of routine to throw a wrench in your fitness plans. Don’t despair! There’s plenty of ways to keep up steam while traveling in San Francisco. The fitness center at Stanford Court Hotel will get you moving with its state-of-the-art equipment, and bike rentals ensure that you can sightsee while toning up.
Never stop starting up with these SCH fitness tools that help to keep the ball rolling.
Onsite fitness
Our rebooted fitness center is outfitted with top-of-the-line exercise equipment and sweeping views of the cable cars on California Street. Our excellent Precor equipment, Peloton stationary bikes and Kinima.fit interactive stations are available for use around the clock. Guests can use the gym whenever it best fits in their schedule.
Run for it
Nob Hill is a great place to acclimate your body to running uphills and downhills. Here at SCH we’ve made a list of the most scenic running routes in SF, but if you’re looking for a morning run, maybe this 2-mile loop will suit your needs. It passes through Chinatown, the Financial District and reaching the San Francisco Bay. From SCH, head east on California Street, toward the bay. California eventually dead ends on Drumm Street, where you’ll veer right onto Market Street toward the water. Pass the ferry building (feel free to check out running paths in adjacent Sue Bierman Park), then head back in to SCH on Washington Street. Once you reach Powell Street, head south until your reach Stanford Court Hotel. See route here.
Tune up, tone up
San Francisco is bike-friendly with designated lanes for cyclists. And, it just so happens that New Albion bikes + Blix ebikes are included in the Urban Bundle fee at SCH. Not only is a bike ride a great workout, it also gives you a memorable experience of sightseeing. Check out bike routes for different levels with our lists of bike trails that we love. Use the bike lane of the Golden Gate Bridge, cruise the Embarcadero or go for a leisurely spin around Golden Gate Park.
Row your boat
For a low-key workout, rent a row or pedal boat at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park. Opened in 1893, the Stow Lake Boathouse takes you back to quieter times with fairly-priced hourly rates to explore the lake. Check out birds, ducklings and the view on the peaceful lake located in the picturesque Golden Gate Park. See pricing info at the Stow Lake Boathouse website.
