Set Yourself in Motion: Indoor Fitness for Any Weather
Don’t leave your fitness plans up to the rain and fog to decide. You can box, jump, climb, run and spin to get your blood flowing. Here’s a look at current ways to get active in San Francisco if the weather is keeping you indoors.
Box
Try this new take on boxing – which conducts group fitness workouts inspired by the high-energy combat sport. Rumble Boxing is new to San Francisco and focuses on strength training in 10 rounds, with state-of-the-art gear. Beat on water-filled punching bags and feel the burn of this full-body workout. The new gym is popular so sign up in advance!
Jump
Embrace your inner-child with a surprising workout apparatus: the trampoline. Ideal for a low-impact workout, trampoline jumping is great exercise for the core, quads, legs and hindquarters. The House of Air indoor trampoline gym in SF offers open-air jump sessions, guided workouts, aerial training and dodgeball games. Drop-ins welcome.
Climb
Rock climbing is pretty big in the Bay Area, possibly influenced by outdoor mammoths like El Capitan in Yosemite or boulders at Joshua Tree. Rock climbing gyms can be found around San Francisco, but the oldest of them all – Mission Cliffs in the Mission District – is simply the best. With a 50-foot high lead wall and over 160 routes, you can boulder, lead or top rope climb your way up. Drop-ins welcome.
Run & Spin
If the weather doesn’t warrant a bike ride (included during your stay at Stanford Court Hotel) or a run, our 24-hour fitness center has you covered. Complete with a Kinima virtual fitness trainer for a customized workout, the room also has floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views of the cable cars on California Street.
If you’re more into spinning, our Peloton indoor bikes give you an indoor cycling studio where you can stream live spin classes from New York. Read more about our state-of-the-art fitness center and tech-forward amenities at Stanford Court Hotel.
